SoCal Linux event seeks embedded speakers

A Linux conference set for February in Los Angeles is seeking speakers on a range of embedded and other topics. The fourth annual Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE), sponsored by the USC, Simi/Conejo, and UCLA Linux User Groups, will take place Feb. 11-12 at a hotel near LAX.

According to SCALE organizers, topics of interest include:

  • Linux kernel
  • Linux Networking
  • Linux for embedded systems
  • Linux for Desktops
  • LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/perl/python)
  • Multimedia in Linux
  • Security in Linux
  • VoIP (voice-over-IP)
  • Wireless tools in Linux
  • Linux Games
  • GIMP & other graphics software
  • Administration techniques for specific distributions
  • Custom Configurations
  • Linux Deployments and experiences: Case studies
  • Open source Licensing
  • Government policies with Open Source
  • Other open source projects

Proposals should include a title, bulleted list of presentation points, specific requirements apart from a projector and microphone, and speaker name, bio, affiliation, and optional passport-sized photo. Proposals should be sent to kapadia at socallinuxexpo.com before Nov. 20. Speakers will be notified prior to Dec. 20, organizers say.
