A small embedded developer's conference has issued a call for papers for its second annual event, set for Jan. 23-24th in Dunedin, near the southern end of New Zealand's pristine South Island. “Embedded Miniconf” is part of Linux Conference Australia (LCA).

Embedded Miniconf organizers are particularly interested in lining up tutorials on setting up OpenEmbedded from scratch, and on adding new packages or distributions to OpenEmbedded. Other suggested topics include:

• Using or developing for devices using OpenEmbedded, buildroot, or commercial Linux distributions
• Developing software with PDA GUIs such as GPE and Opie
• Development or use of uclibc and uClinux
• Development or use of gcc or other compilers for ARM, MIPS, or PPC
• Changing the kernel to fit embedded constraints
• Satisfying real-time requirements (both hard and soft) using Linux
• Using Linux tools (such as GDA or pictools) to develop hardware
• New embedded products that run or will run Linux
• Other open source operating systems on embedded hardware

Organizers add that any presentation, tutorial, or case study will be considered if it relates to:

• Using Linux on embedded devices
• Development targeting embedded hardware using Linux
• Development of embedded hardware using Linux

Proposals are due by December 4, and speakers will be notified between Dec. 4 and Jan. 1. Additional specifics, including submissions instructions, can be found here.
