Zoom Telephonics announced Linux support for its latest intelligent PCI-bus 56K modem, the Model 2920. The device is targeted at applications requiring maximum processing power, plus easy system integration. Spyglass Inc. has announced the licensing of Spyglass Device Mosaic 4.0 for use within TiVo's next-generation “Personal TV” software platform and service. As part of the arrangement, Spyglass will port Device Mosaic 4.0 to Linux and will assist in integrating the technology with TiVo's Linux-based products. (more…)

Bluepoint Linux Software Corp. has announced that Mr. Yongming Wei, the founder of the MiniGUI free software project, has joined the Bluepoint Beijing Research and Development Center as its technology director. Trustix Secure Linux is a Linux distribution aimed towards the server market. Its packages are carefully selected to provide the services in the most secure manner. MontaVista, Inc. has announced a pSOS-to-Linux rescue mission, in the form of a transition kit that facilitates the porting of pSOS applications to Linux. The effort follows the recent announcement by embedded RTOS leader Wind River of a plan to transition its pSOS customers to VxWorks and phase out pSOS support. (more…)

Yamnet Technology (Taiwan) has introduced an “instant Internet appliance” in the form of a PC plugin card board-set and a CD-ROM that contains pre-defined Linux configurations for a variety of network/Internet device applications.
