GNU tools based IDE for XScale, PowerPC, ARM revised

Microcross has revised its GNU-tools based visual development environment for embedded Linux development on the ARM, PowerPC, and XScale architectures, and is offering 30-day trial versions for each. Visual GNU X-Tools 3.0 is a fairly inexpensive toolsuite that supports more than 20 platforms. (more…)

PowerPC 750GX based PrPMC module runs embedded Linux

TI unveils 2nd-gen OMAP processors for 2.5/3G mobile handsets

Texas Instruments (TI) reveiled its new OMAP 2 processor architecture for 2.5 and 3G mobile phones at a press conference at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France today. TI says its next-generation processors based on OMAP 2 will provide features such as interactive 3D gaming, 4+ megapixel cameras, digital camcorders, TV, and more. (more…)

New Sharp ARM922T-based SoC runs embedded Linux

Sharp Microelectronics says its highly integrated ARM922T-based 32-bit system-on-chip (SoC) processor, the LH7A404, is now available in production quantities. Sharp is targeting the 200MHz SoC processor at high-end mobile, industrial, and entertainment applications, and is supporting it with an embedded Linux tookit from Metrowerks. (more…)

Cirrus Logic has unveiled ten new embedded processors in its ARM9-based EP9xxx family. Embeddable browser project hits milestone release, seeks funding

The Dillo project to build a small, fast, lightweight, standards-compliant embeddable Web browser has released a new version with “the largest set of improvements, ever,” according to project founder Jorge Cid.
