Box PC gains dual-core Atom option, PCIe
Mar 30, 2011 — by Eric Brown — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 5 viewsAxiomtek launched a fanless industrial box computer with an Intel Atom N450 or dual-core Atom D510 processor, each clocked at 1.66GHz. The eBOX620-800-FL supports up to 2GB DDR2 memory, provides PCI Express expansion, offers a variety of connectivity including gigabit Ethernet, and supports a wide temperature range, says the company.
The eBOX620-800-FL is designed for applications including digital signage, gaming, industrial control automation, PoS, kiosk, and medical equipment, says Axiomtek. The box computer upgrades last June's eBOX-621-831-FL, which ran on Intel's earlier 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270.

Compared to the eBOX-621-831-FL, the eBOX620-800-FL's chief addition is the addition of a Mini PCI Express slot. In addition, there's now an optional DVI-I port to go along with the standard VGA offering, and one of the three RS/232 ports has been switched to a more flexible RS-232/422/485 port. The box is also slightly smaller, but heavier, and gains a new power supply.

The fanless box computer offers vibration resistance, and supports a 14 to 122 deg. F (-10 to 50 deg. C) operating temperatures with the D510 and 14 to 131 deg. F (-10 to 55 deg. C) with the N450, says the company. Operating system support is said to include Linux, Windows CE, and Windows XP Embedded (XPE).
