Axiomtek is readying a fanless, embedded PC with six PCI/PCIe expansion slots. The IPC916-211-FL incorporates the Intel GM45 Express chipset, supports Intel Core 2 Duo and Celeron M processors, and offers up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, as well as gigabit Ethernet, USB, and serial connectivity, says the company.

The "barebone" IPC916-211-FL is aimed at industrial automation, kiosk/POI, digital signage, gaming, and DVR applications, says Axiomtek. Equipped with an Intel GM45 Express northbridge and ICH9M southbridge, the computer supports socket P Intel Core 2 Duo and Celeron M CPUs, and offers a 667/800/1066 MHz FSB, says the company.

The system supports a generous allotment of up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, but does not appear to provide flash memory. Two 2.5-inch SATA hard disk drive (HDD) bays are provided for storage, however, says Axiomtek.

The IPC916-211-FL is notable for its extensive expansion capability, providing two PCI, one PCI-Express (PCIe) x16, and three PCIe x1 slots. Equipped with dual gigabit Ethernet ports, the IPC916-211-FL also supplies two USB 2.0 ports, and four COM ports (including one RS-232-422-485 port). The system ships with a VGA port only, but Axiomtek says the device supports numerous display options including CRT, LVDS, and DVI via an optional PCI bracket that also offers four additional USB 2.0 ports.

Constructed of aluminum extrusion heavy-duty cold-rolled steel, the fanless, 9.8 x 8.3 x 7.3-inch computer offers vibration resistance, and supports temperatures up to 104 deg. F (45 C), says Axiomtek. Customers can select either an industrial-grade Phoenix type connector or a DC-jack power connector plug for the 10V~30VDC 150 Watt power supply (see image below).
