A German-language conference on embedded Linux in industrial control and automation has issued a call for papers for its second annual event, set for March 31 and April 1, 2005, in Hannover, Germany. The Linux Automation Konferenz (LAK) is described as a “platform for technical exchange” between industrial automation, real-time, and embedded developers in the medical, oil, and other industries.

The first-annual LAK was announced in January of last year, and drew more than 120 participants, according to LAK organizers.

According to a computer-based translation of the 2005 event's call for papers, suggested topics include:

  • Use of Linux in industry: measuring and automatic control engineering, robotics, logistics, medical technology, biotechnology, process engineering, analytics, etc.
  • Embedded Linux in industry: development tools, version management, test environments, etc.
  • Real-time topics: real-time Linux variants, real-time Ethernet
  • Linux-based research projects with industrial relevance

Presentations are limited to 20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for discussion. Prospective speakers should email a 1,600-word summary of their program, along with their name, postal address, email address, and telephone number, before January 28, 2005.
