Larry Macfarlane was previously president of Big Planet, the technology division of Nu Skin Enterprises. There, he created the Photomax brand of digital memories products and services, MontaVista said.

Prior to that, Macfarlane was senior director of network infrastructure and digital consumer markets for Wind River Systems, also working in the company's consumer electronics and network infrastructure units. Macfarlane also formerly served as president and CEO of embedded GUI design company Zinc Software, now owned by Professional Software Associates (PSA).

Derek Howard

Derek Howard (shown at right) was previously MontaVista's VP of worldwide professional services. There, he allegedly improved the efficiency of MontaVista's hardware enablement and services resources, resulting in higher on-time project completion rates and increased bookings, boasts MontaVista.

Before joining MontaVista, Howard was a founder and VP of operations at BlueStar Solutions, a service provider acquired in 2004 by outsourcing firm ACS. Howard went on to lead the formation of a professional services unit at ACS. BlueStar/ACS, incidentally, was also the previous stop for MontaVista president and CEO Tom Kelly, as well as the company's VP of Field Operations, Russell “Rusty” Harris.

MontaVista's two new executives will report directly to Kelly, who stated, “We are within weeks of closing out a very successful 2007. To build on our momentum, we are enhancing the capabilities of MontaVista's senior management team.”
