BosaNova has added a low-power, compact, mountable model to its line of x86-architecture thin clients. Based on an AMD LX800 processor, and with optional WiFi, the one-pound design is available with Linux as the RBT-802, or as the RBT-820 with Windows CE.

BosaNova offers thin client designs based on AMD's GX533, as well as Via chipsets such as the 1GHz Eden. Most of its hardware designs appear to support Linux and either Microsoft Windows CE or XP Embedded.

The RBT-802/RBT-820 is based on a 500MHz [email protected] processor. It has 128MB of RAM, and 64MB to 128MB of flash memory. Interfaces include 10/100 Ethernet supporting PXE-boot, audio in/out, and four USB 2.0 host ports. Additionally, an internal WiFi radio is available.

The RBT-802/820 is tiny, and legacy port-free
The compact RBT-802/820 measures a mere 5.5 x 5.1 x 1.4 inches (140 x 130 x 35 mm), and weighs about 14 ounces.

Both the Linux and the Windows CE versions are optionally available with a local browser, 5250/3270 virtual terminal emulation, SNMP-based management software, and support for Citrix ICA (independent computing architecture); Microsoft RDP (remote desktop protocol); and Tarantella Secure Global Desktop (SGD) and Terminal Server Edition (TSE).

The Linux-based RBT-802 is additionally available with support for Sun's Secure Global Desktop Software (SGDS) Enterprise Edition, and can be configured with a local Thunderbird email client and CUPS (common Unix print system) printing software.

The Windows CE-based RBT-820, meanwhile, comes standard with Microsoft Office file viewers, tabbed browsing, and 5250 split screen support.
