Kiwi-Classifieds (New Zealand) has announced the launch of its first family of Internet Appliance solutions — the “eKa – Plug 2 Surf”. The product family consists of a set-top box manufactured in Taiwan (see picture), combined with Lineo's Embedix Linux operating system and Embedix Browser.

A series of customized/branded solutions will provide Internet Appliance solutions targeted to four market segments: consumers, businesses, media and advertising firms, and educational institutions. KCL will also provide various services that support its embedded Linux based Internet Appliance solutions.

Formed in September 1998 and privately owned, KCL is New Zealand's first Internet appliance solutions company. The company is currently going through second round financing to expand its solutions outside of New Zealand.
