PCI-104 module supports embedded Linux

Based on an ultra low voltage (ULV) 400MHz Intel Celeron Processor and 815E chipset, the SpacePC 8500 can be used fanless, and targets aerospace, defense, and transportation applications, Parvus says.
The SBC implements the PCI-104 form factor, the new PCI-only implementation of the PC/104 specification. Standard features include four USB ports, one Fast Ethernet (10/100Mbps) interface, two RS-232 serial ports, a parallel port, a floppy port, a VGA interface with LVDS LCD/Flat panel interface, an AC97 bus, keyboard and mouse ports, and an Ultra DMA IDE controller for IDE hard drives or IDE-compatible Flash devices (DiskOnModule, CompactFlash, etc.). An SODIMM memory socket supports PC100-133 SDRAM.
Parvus says the SpacePC 8500 is compatible with embedded Linux, as well as several other embedded and real-time operating systems. A preinstalled ROM-DOS OS kernel, along with a BIOS, comes installed in the board's onboard 1MB Flash chip.
Parvus expects to begin shippping the SpacePC 8500 before the end of this year. The board with 256MB of SDRAM is priced around $600 each in quantities of 100 or more.
