TimeSys joins OSDL with focus on Carrier Grade Linux
Jun 9, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views[Updated 10:45am PDT] — TimeSys announced today that they have joined OSDL with a focus on Carrier Grade Linux (CGL). TimeSys said it is currently working toward bringing its embedded Linux distribution into compliance with the OSDL's CGL specifications.
TimeSys does not intend to provide a separate CGL product, a company source said. Rather, with non-telecom customers increasingly requesting CGL features such as availability, reliability, survivability, and predictability, TimeSys has adopted a strategy of building CGL features directly into its standard embedded Linux distribution (TimeSys Linux 4.0), the source said.
“High availability and Carrier Grade Linux features are part of the current TimeSys product offering and joining OSDL further supports our commitment to enhance Linux and support the communication industry's needs,” said TimeSys CEO Larry Weidman. “TimeSys is committed to continue development of features needed to make Linux a best-of-breed carrier-grade operating system,” Weidman added.
