Acrosser announced another entry in its line of fanless vehicle PCs, this time featuring Intel's D425 or D525 Atoms. The AR-V6002FL includes CAN bus support, four serial ports, a 2.5-inch drive bay and CompactFlash slot, two Mini PCI Express slots, and an optional GPS receiver, according to the company.

Acrosser's AR-V6002FL follows a variety of other vehicle PCs from the company, which have most recently included the AR-5403FL release in February. Again fanless (we believe it's what the "FL" in the name stands for), the device this time uses Intel's single-core Atom D425 or dual-core D525, both clocked at 1.8GHz and featuring 10-Watt TDPs.

Featuring the expected ICH8M I/O controller, the AR-V6002FL accepts up to 4GB of DDR3 memory in a single DIMM slot, 1GB being pre-installed, according to Acrosser. Fixed storage is via either a 2.5-inch bay for disk storage, or an externally accessible CompactFlash slot, the company adds.

According to Acrosser, a special feature of the AR-V6002FL is its smart power management. The device accepts 12V or 24VDC input, can be turned on and off (with adjustable delay time) by a vehicle's ignition, and protects itself against under-voltage, the company says.

The AR-V6002FL's rear panel (above) includes a microphone input and speaker output, a connector for a remote switch, four serial ports, four USB 2.0 ports, and a gigabit Ethernet port. Also featured are a VGA output, a CAN bus connector with CAN 2.0A and 2.0B support, and a connector for 8-bit GPIO (four in, four out), says Acrosser.

Acrosser says the AR-V6002FL also has two internal Mini PCI Express slots, intended for optional GSM cellular (Sierra MC8790 or Huawei EM770W card), Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth modules. With an externally accessible SIM slot, the PC also has an internal USB connector designed to accept an available GPS module (Wieson ZYM-5020), the company adds.
