Webinar to showcase Linux telecom distro
Nov 20, 2007 — by Eric Brown — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsMontaVista will host a free webinar about its newly revised Carrier Grade Linux product next week. James Ready, CTO and founder, will describe new field-serviceability, high-availability, and “NSA-level” security features in MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition (CGE) 5.0 on Tues., Nov. 27th at 10AM PST.
According to MontaVista, CGE is used by seven of the top eight network equipment providers (NEPs), including Alcatel-Lucent, Siemens-Nokia, Motorola, and NEC. The latest version, expected Dec. 17, is said to offer greater scalability, reliability, and field-serviceability, enabling field engineers to fix and upgrade live, running systems with little or zero downtime.
Ready, who in the 80s led the development of VRTX, the first commercially viable RTOS (real-time OS), will answer live questions from the audience as part of the presentation. Additional details may be available here.
In other news, MontaVista just wrapped up a 23-city roadshow with Freescale, one of its Carrier Grade Linux partners.
