Atom-based SBC offers four gigabit ports

Mar 11, 2011 — by Eric Brown — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 12 views

IEI announced a 5.25-inch single board computer (SBC) equipped with Intel Atom D425 or D525 processors. The Nova-PV-D4251/D5251 offers up to 4GB of DDR3 memory and CompactFlash storage, expansion via PCI, PCI-104 and PCIe expansion, plus I/O including two or four Ethernet ports and eight USB 2.0 ports, says the company.

The Nova-PV–D4251/D5251 offers a very similar feature set to IEI's recently announced KINO-PV-D4252/D5252 SBC. Instead of a square, 6.7 x 6.7-inch Mini-ITX format, however, the Nova-PV uses the "5.25-inch" form-factor, which actually measures 8.0 x 5.75 inches. It also offers twice the number of gigabit Ethernet ports, as well as an extra PCI Express (PCIe) slot, and adds an IDE interface and an optional TPM module.

The Nova-PV offers either the single-core D425 or dual-core D525 Atom processor. The SBC ships with dual DDR3 800MHz SODIMM slots for up to 4GB of memory, says IEI.

Other standard features include a PCI, a PCI-104, and dual PCIe expansion slots, as well as dual SATA 3Gbps ports, an IDE port, and a Compact Flash (CF) Type II card slot, says the company. The Nova-PV supports 24-bit, dual-channel LVDS ports for a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080.

The SBC is further equipped with four gigabit Ethernet (PCIe) ports with ASF 2.0 support, eight USB 2.0 ports, and one LPT port. The board offers five RS-232 ports, and a configurable RS-232/422/485 port with auto flow control, says IEI.
