Atom-powered PC/104 module supports dual displays

May 26, 2010 — by Eric Brown — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

Aaeon announced a PC/104 CPU module equipped with the Intel Atom N450 processor. The PFM-LNP supports simultaneous dual-view displays, has an 18-bit single channel LVDS interface, provides PCI/104 and Mini-PCIe expansion, and offers gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, and serial connectivity, says the company.

The PFM-LNP module is designed for transportation devices, kiosks, building automation, factory automation, and instrumentation, says Aaeon. Like the company's COM-LN COM Express module introduced earlier this month, the PFM-LNP is equipped with an Intel "Pineview" Atom, in this case the N450 clocked to 1.66GHz. The processor is mated with Intel's ICH8M chipset, as well as up to 1GB of DDR2 667Mhz memory, says Aaeon.

Thanks to the N450's inherent graphics processing capabilities, the PFM-LNP offers simultaneous dual-view displays, and includes an 18-bit single channel LVDS interface, says Aaeon. Display resolutions are said to range to up to 1400 x 1050 (SXGA) for CRT displays and 1366 x 768 for LCD.

A SATA 2 interface and a Type I CompactFlash slot are provided for storage, and expansion is said to be supported via a PCI-104 slot as well as a Mini-PCI Express slot. The PFM-LNP offers a gigabit Ethernet port, four USB 2.0 ports, and three RS-232 serial ports, says Aaeon. There is also said to be a fourth serial port that can be configured for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485.
