North Andover, MA — (press release excerpt) — WIN Enterprises has announced a new network appliance oriented single-board computer (SBC) based on a 1GHz Intel PIII, known as the WIN 810 3LAN Communications Controller. The new SBC has three built-in 100 megabit Ethernet NICs and two RS232 serial ports, which make it an ideal choice for network appliance applications such as VPN/Firewall, Voice over IP,… industrial control, factory automation, machine vision, medical imaging, biometrics and a host of other applications. Full support for using Linux as the SBC's operating system is available.

An onboard PCI expansion slot allows for add-in cards such as encryption devices or additional LAN ports. Since the external I/O connectors are built cirectly onto the board, the need for cabling is eliminated. It is designed to easily fit into a 1U chassis with custom versions available. Other advantages include an onboard CompactFlash socket, up to 256MB RAM, and CPU speeds up to 1GHz.
