G.Mate to add CompactFlash slot to YOPY Linux PDA

Oct 16, 2002 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 views

YOPY.AT has announced that G.Mate is developing a new version of its YOPY Linux PDA with a CompactFlash slot. Expected to become available in the beginning of 2003, the new model YP3700 satisfies the requirement for wireless operation of the YOPY Linux PDA. A GSM/GPRS module is also said to be in the works.

In addition to adding the CompactFlash slot, the YP3700 also boasts a 2,300 mA battery — 80 percent larger than the battery supplied with the earlier YP3000/3500 models. In comparison with the YP3500, there are only small differences in dimensions and weight (YP3500: 103x69x19.1mm, 150g; YP3700: 103x69x24.2mm, 190g).

Both the YP3700 and the YP3500 will be offered with Hancom's Mobile Office Suite. However, it is uncertain at this time whether the office suite will be included in the base price of the YP3500/YP3700 PDAs.

The price premium of the YP3700 relative to the previously announced YP3500 is expected to be approximately Eur 60. Given the current introductory price of Eur 699 for the YP3500, this would put the YP3700 at around Eur 759.
