Stealth Computer announced a fanless mini PC with a dual-core Atom D525 processor, a 55GB solid state disk (SSD), plus both Mini PCI Express and ExpressCard/34 slots. The LPC-125LPFM works in temperatures ranging from 14 to 113 deg. F and via DC power ranging from 10V to 26V, according to the company.

Toronto-based Stealth Computer specializes in mini PCs, and has ranges of products that include "standard," "highest performance," and "ultra-small," among others. We've covered the LPC-450 and LPC-670, for example, models that included Core i3/i5/i7 or Core 2 Duo processors and made room for optical disk drives.

Last August, the company introduced its LPC-125LPM, a member of the "ultra-small" range that turned to the Atom D525 (dual-core, 1.8GHz) and ICH8M I/O controller. Now, we have the almost identically named LPC-125LPFM, where the "F" stands for "fanless."

Due to the overall similarity in specs, we wouldn't be surprised to learn that the LPC-125LPFM (above) employs the same motherboard as the LPC-125LPM. However, the earlier device had a 6.1 x 4.0 x 1.45-inch enclosure, whereas the LPC-125LPFM measures 6.1 x 4.6 x 2.0 inches, according to Stealth.

Presumably, the larger box and its integral heat sink are what account for the fanless operation. According to Stealth, the LPC-125LPFM operates in temperatures ranging from 14 to 113 deg. F. (The fan-assisted LPC-125LPM can tolerate up to 140 deg. F.)

Power requirements are the same as were cited for the LPC-125LPM: 15 Watts via a DC power connector, and 20 Watts when used with an optional AC power supply. The LPC-125LPFM tolerates inputs ranging from 10 to 26VDC, Stealth adds.

According to Stealth, the LPC-125LPFM comes with a 55GB SSD as its standard fixed storage medium. There's room for a 2.5-inch hard disk drive instead, but this will increase the need for cooling, the company warns.

The LPC-125LPFM accepts up to 4GB of DDR3 memory via two SODIMM slots, according to Stealth. The device also has an internal Mini PCI expansion slot, for wireless networking, plus an externally accessible ExpressCard/34 slot, the company adds.

On the LPC-125LPFM's front panel (above left), there are three USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232 ports, a microphone input, and a headphone jack. The rear panel (above right) brings the ExpressCard/34 slot, another USB 2.0 port, a gigabit Ethernet port, a VGA output, two PS/2 ports, and a four-pin power input.
