German industrial computer manufacturer Solcon Systemtechnik has released a highly customizable industrial terminal PC that runs embedded Linux. The touchscreen-equipped Unidat 6.5-inch Terminal offers options including IP67 protection against dust and water, and resistance to temperatures ranging from -22 to… 158 degrees F.

The Unidat 6.5 comes standard with 400- to 650MHz RISC or CISC CPUs of undisclosed origin, but can also be ordered with CPUs clocked up to 1.5GHz performance, says Solcon Systemtechnik. Standard RAM configurations range from 256- to 512MB DDR2 RAM, with optional upgrades to as much as 2GB. Flash starts at 256MB, with upgrades to 2GB. The system is said to include a CF-card slot that can handle 4GB flash cards, and it offers a built-in, shock-mounted 20GB 2.5-inch hard drive (also upgradeable). There's also PC 104 expansion.

Unidat 6.5-inch Terminal, wall-mounted

The 6.5-inch touchscreen provides 640×480 VGA resolution, say the company, and there's a built-in programmable numeric keyboard. Standard I/O includes a 10/100 Ethernet connection, two USB ports, two serial ports, and a parallel port. I/O options include WiFi, IrDA, PCMCIA, FireWire, digital I/O, and additional Ethernet and parallel ports. The fanless, aluminum-encased system measures 7.1 x 8.7 x 2.8 inches and weighs 7.7 pounds. It offers standard resistance to temperatures ranging from 32 to 140 degrees F, with an option extending that to -22 to 158 degrees.
