Automation computer boasts dual-core CPUs, DVI

Advantech has extended its range of “embedded automation computers” with a Core 2 Duo-based system running Linux. The UNO-2182 offers PCI-104 and PC Card expansion, plus two gigabit Ethernet and four serial ports, the company says.

Closely resembling the company's recently introduced UNO-2172, the UNO-2182 comes in a rugged aluminum enclosure with top-mounted heat sink. It features a 1.5GHz Core 2 Duo processor.

According to Advantech, the UNO-2182 comes with a standard memory complement of 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM. It also includes 512KB of battery-backed SRAM.

As noted, the device has a PCI-104 expansion location, plus a PC Card slot that supports both 32-bit CardBus and 16-bit PCMCIA 2.1. In addition, there is an internal Type I/II CompactFlash slot and room for a 2.5-inch SATA-1 HDD, according to the company.


The UNO-2182 features four serial and two Ethernet ports

The UNO-2182 offers four serial ports with DB-9 connectors, and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Also included is a DVI interface that supports dual displays, according to Advantech.

The UNO-2182 is offered with drivers for Linux, Windows XP Embedded, and Windows 2000/XP. The system appears to be available now, though pricing was not disclosed.
