Win Enterprises announced a 3.5-inch SBC (single board computer) equipped with Intel's 32nm “Cedar Trail” Atom processors. The MB-80410 accepts up to 4GB of RAM, has a Mini PCI Express slot, includes a single SATA connector, and provides multiple serial and USB ports, according to the company.

Win Enterprises' new MB-80410 employs the "3.5-inch" SBC format that actually measures approximately 5.75 by 4 inches. It's the first such product we're aware of to employ Intel's recently announced, 32nm-fabricated "Cedar Trail" Atom processors, each of which is dual core.

Differences from earlier Atoms aren't dramatic, but when the Cedar Trail devices were announced at the beginning of this month, Intel highlighted enhanced graphics and 20 percent greater power efficiency. The three CPUs chosen by Win Enterprises for the MB-80410 are as follows:

• Atom D2700 — 2.13GHz clock speed; dual cores and four threads; 10-Watt TDP
• Atom N2800 — 1.86GHz clock speed; dual cores and four threads; 6.5-Watt TDP
• Atom N2600 — 1.6GHz clock speed; dual cores and four threads; 3.5-Watt TDP

Like other vendors to date, Win Enterprises is bypassing the Atom D2500. Presumably, that's because this chip still has a 10-Watt TDP, but delivers a 1.86GHz clock speed and only two threads.

Whichever CPU a customer selects, it's accompanied on the SBC by the expected NM10 I/O controller. This chip supports up to 4GB of RAM with the D2700, or 2GB of RAM with the N2600 and N2800, Win Enterprises notes.

Like other 3.5-inch SBCs, the MB-80410 provides a mix of "real world" ports and others provided via headers. Here, as seen above, the coastline sports two gigabit Ethernet ports, a DVI-I connector, a USB 2.0 port, and a DB9 serial port (RS232/422/485).

Additional ports are available via headers, including SATA, VGA, LVDS, a parallel port, six more USB 2.0 ports, and four more serial ports (two RS232 and two RS232/422/485). According to Win Enterprises, the MB-80410 also has a Mini PCI Express slot (on the top, as pictured earlier in this story) and a CFast slot (on the bottom, as seen below).

Win Enterprises did not cite operating system support for the MB-80410, but we'd expect the device to run pretty much any x86 operating system. Operating range is said to be -4 to 158 deg. F, and the company lists an available CPU fan connector without specifying when this needs to be used.
