Habey announced a fanless embedded PC equipped with Intel's new dual-core Atom N2800 (1.86GHz) or D2700 (2.13GHz) “Cedar Trail” processors and up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. The BIS-6630 features an SATA bay and dual Mini PCI Express slots, dual gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 ports, dual serial ports, and both VGA and DVI-D video ports, the company says.

The BIS-6630 is designed for digital signage, building automation, NVR (networked video recorder), point-of-sale (POS), and other embedded and industrial applications, says Habey. At 7.48 x 7.48 x 2.64 inches, it's considerably larger than the Intel Atom Z5xx-based BIS-6624 and Atom E6xx-based BIS-6625 announced in December. The new model adopts Intel's 32nm-fabricated, dual-core "Cedar Trail" Atom processors, specifically the Atom N2800 (1.86GHz) or D2700 (2.13GHz), according to Habey.

The Cedar Trail processors, which are all offered with Intel's NM10 chipset, are primarily notable for their lower power consumption compared to earlier Atom processors. The Atom N2800 is said to have a 6.5 Watt TDP, while the D2700 bumps up to 10 Watts.

Both processors are also equipped with Intel GMA3650 graphics based on Imagination Technologies' PowerVR SGX545 GPU clocked at 640MHz. As a result, the processors offer 60 percent better graphics than previous Atoms and can decode video at full HD in formats including MP4, H.264, and WMV9, says Habey.

The Cedar Trail processors come to the BIS-6630 by way of a new MITX-6930 Mini-ITX motherboard from Habey's parent company Norco. The Habey product page links to a Norco-branded data sheet for the BIS-6630 (see farther below), but at the time of writing Norco had not yet posted its own BIS-6630 product page.

Habey's BIS-6630 supports up to twice the RAM as the BIS-6624 and BIS-6625, at 4GB, and moves up to DDR3 memory, says Habey. Other specs are fairly similar, including a 2.5-inch SATA bay, dual Mini PCI Express slots with a Wi-Fi option, and a SIM slot.

The BIS-6630 includes both DVI-D and VGA ports, as well as internal 18-bit LVDS at up to 1366 x 768 resolution, and is said to support dual displays. Additional features are said to include dual gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 ports, audio I/O, and two RS-232/422/485 ports, with four more internal serial interfaces.

The fanless system runs on 12 Watts, according to a Kill-o-Watt reading shown in the video below, although the data sheet says under 10 Watts (we imagine the former is the correct figure. Operating temperatures are said to range from 14 to 122 deg. F.

The aluminum enclosure offers storage access plates, and is available with VESA mounting, says Habey. The computer is said to support "Windows 7 Embedded, Windows 7, Meego, and future Linux systems."
