Lineo releases 1-floppy real-time Linux mini-distro

(updated July 5, 2000) Lineo has released AtomicRTAI, a working real-time Linux distribution that fits on a single floppy diskette. AtomicRTAI builds upon an earlier single floppy real-time distribution previously released by Zentropix in May, 1999. Industry’s first PMC AGP video module supports Linux

General Micro Systems says it has developed the industry's first PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) video graphics card that implements an AGP video bus interface. The AGP port is implemented using undefined pins on the same J1 and J2 connectors that are used to implement the PCI bus. PMC modules provide modular system expansion on VMEbus and CompactPCI processor boards. (more…)

Mobile AMD-K6-2+ features self-optimizing power management

AMD has announced 550MHz and 533MHz versions of its Mobile AMD-K6-2+ family of processors featuring a new power management technology called “PowerNow!” AMD claims its new PowerNow! technology can extend the battery life of notebook systems by up to 30%. (more…)

“Instant Internet appliance” board-set

Yamnet Technology (Taiwan) has introduced an “instant Internet appliance” in the form of a PC plugin card board-set and a CD-ROM that contains pre-defined Linux configurations for a variety of network/Internet device applications. MontaVista mounts rescue mission for pSOS users

MontaVista, Inc. has announced a pSOS-to-Linux rescue mission, in the form of a transition kit that facilitates the porting of pSOS applications to Linux. Trustix secure linux 1.1

Trustix Secure Linux is a Linux distribution aimed towards the server market. Its packages are carefully selected to provide the services in the most secure manner.
