Commell has released a compact, multimedia-oriented, PC-compatible single-board computer (SBC) with a claimed maximum power requirement of 5 watts. The LE-365 is based on Via's Eden processor and highly-integrated CX700M chipset, and targets multimedia, entertainment, and productivity applications.

The LE-365 is implemented in the so-called 3.5-inch SBC form-factor, a popular “embedded PC” format among Taiwanese embedded SBC makers. It supports up to 2 GB of on-board DDR2 533 memory, and includes a full set of PC-style input/output interfaces, including Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, audio, video, and so on. The board can run fanless, Commell said.

The board's Via CX700M chipset includes Via's UniChrome Pro II IGP graphics core and Chromotion video engine, which provide hardware-accelerated MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and WMV9 decoding, and support advanced rendering tools such as Adaptive De-Interlacing and Video Deblocking, according to Commell. A choice of LVDS or DVI video output is available.

Key features and specs of the LE-365, according to Commell, include:

  • Processor — Via Eden CPU, clocked at 1.0 GHz; 400 MHz FSB
  • Chipset — Viz CX700M
  • Memory — 200-pin DDRII 400/533 SDRAM up to 2.0 GB
  • Video — optional 18/24-bit LVDS or DVI interface
